Reminds my military mind of what we referred to as McNamara’s 100 thousand. Consisted of HS drop outs, non HS grads, convicts(?), supposedly of the non-violent types were rounded up during that little Vietnam kerfluffel. I was an Admin Chief in a Marine Helicopter Squadron. I ended up shepherding a drug dealing file clerk, as told one day by a visiting CID (Criminal Investigation Division) Officer. Another clerk was awaiting a BCD (Bad Conduct Discharge) for strong arming a cabbie in the Vill! Had to burn many midnight oil sessions just keeping the joint afloat! NONE of ‘my crew’ had a HS diploma. That was an added job, getting a couple of them their GEDs.😳

Or how about John Kerry who never finished his tour in Viet Nam and was awarded a purple heart for a self-inflicted wound that was about the size of a penny and then him being Jane Fonda’s butt buddy. And what about YOUR military service?
Now there are all the Woke, Trans, LGBT F-ups to deal with until they get weeded out! Military went to SH-t in a hay basket in the 90’s I saw it first hand as the cry babies in basic training needed a time out card to deal with stress! That was the starting point of the downfall of Oath keeping Patriots and Integrity!

Always glad to see military geniuses (like Butch) give their opinions on military matters. We are much better off with some older soldiers – the ones who are fit enough to keep up – than a bunch of candy-@ss college kids. The p*sssification of the population makes this change in the age necessary.

Re-enact mandatory military service for all physically eligible men and women. No Vietnam college deferments. When every American family has a vested interest, son, daughter, brother ,sister, etc. etc. watch how fast all Americans will re-act when they have a personal interest. Our representatives will have their undivided attention.
No more “thank you for your service” and then continue with their phone, computer, or tv.
Barry couldn’t be drafted because he wasn’t ever an American citizen.

Joined the Army in September 1969. Myself and around 20 (it has been over 50 years) others from SW Florida. Every one of us ENLISTED. We joined a DRAFT army. We had kids that looked like blimps in my basic training platoon. Very few fell out. Regardless of what most civilians think, the combat arms are less than 40 percent of the Army. There are plenty of jobs that need to be done that do not require a perfect soldier. Later in my career I met a young trooper that said he was given the choice of jail or the Army. He was in Supply so I said they sure put him in the right job. By the way our two blimps were twins and were put into personnel (HR for civilians).
Also unless, we are invaded (which seems to be more and more likely with the democratic and many republicans legislators and corrupt judges we are “blessed” with) there is a need of many stateside billets to be manned (womened?). Older veterans can fill some of these but may younger people will be needed. During WW2 many admin jobs were filled by women, some even overseas.
On the other hand we will need farm workers to grow food. Maybe those too “fragile” to serve in the military can be assigned to work the land to feed not only the military, but ordinary American citizens. A friend of mine’s dad said in WW2 it was farm or fight!
