  1. I live in Mexico. Been here for 28 years. legally married to a wonderful woman of Mexico who does not speak English and my Spanish is pretty darn good!! Have not been back to the states since 2001.

  2. If one is in another man’s country, AND still can’t speak the language of the country, the shame is on YOU.
Having and others, the shame is yours

  3. He’s been here for 30 years? He doesn’t speak english? I wonder how much “assistance” in tax dollars total they have received. I wonder if she feels at all guilty about the way their children live.

  4. She has been married for six years and speaks Spanish but he’s here 30 years and can’t speak english? It looks like they both haven’t been starving. I bet her parents are so proud of the choices she’s made. What life awaits her two children?

  5. Was he here illegally when he could have taken English lessons if he wasn’t? We don’t need people like that here. It annoys the hell out of me when I hear people speaking in their native language here in the US! Can’t speak or don’t want to speak in English, get the hell out!

    • Why are you bothered by people speaking in their native language? I’ve been to 40 countries (military) and there is no way I could speak all of the languages in those countries (I learned 4, because it was necessary to communicate with their military). It’s one thing to live in a country and never learn the language, but entirely different to visit and not speak their language. Now, if I encounter someone in the US who lives and works here, but is from another country and doesn’t speak English, but I know their language, I will not converse with them because their refusal to learn our language is disrespectful. But for those who come to visit (legally), I will go out of my way to be friendly.

  6. My husband worked over 30 years for an international telecom company. As a project manager he often spoke to employees from multiple different countries in conference calls… and ALL the meetings were solely in ENGLISH. The company has offices/staff in over a hundred countries. It is fact that English is the “international language of business and socialization.” Everyone benefits from learning English.

  7. He says it is better than the US so why did he come here? Ungrateful POS. He never learned English? How ridiculous. That is the exact problem. you come here, you assimilate
