Homeowners should NOT be charged. Since the kids were under 18 they should go after the parent. The kids did this several times to 1 home, they should all be jailed.

Only in a blue area, like near Detroit, would a homeowner be charged, for defending his home and property, from a young mob of worthless, useless, urban thugs. And bcp calls them “scholars”?!? Is he kidding me?!? The only subject that they are studying, is thievery!!! (And, maybe drug addiction, too!) This was not one lone burglar, trying to get something from an unoccupied house. No, this was a whole gang of hoods, against one homeowner. How else was he going to defend his property, and himself, against 7 others, huh?!? Too bad that he didn’t have a remote controlled claymore mine, to set off…that would have sent a real message, to all of the local urban thieves and thugs! While the local news media, and the thugs families, and the local prosecutor are boo-hooing, and crying about “injustice”, more people are leaving the Detroit area, for places like Florida–where you are allowed to defend yourself, and your property–no questions asked! Tell me, you local, worthless excuses for humsn beings from Detroit, is your city’s population increasing, or decreasing? And…now you know why, worthless people from Detroit: nobody wants to live in such a horrible place where robbery is ok!!!
Stand your ground law, well which is it. If you are not going to defend the Stand your ground law then get rid of it. Did this homeowner know if the criminals had weapons. Do you think he had the time in a situation like this to check each person. Did he shoot while they were running away, I would, how does he know if one will turn around and start firing at him. Are citizens supposed to paint a line at the end of their property so when criminals go beyond the line you can’t defend yourself. Prosecutors should be protecting the homeowner not fighting for the criminals. Had the criminals not been breaking in a house/garage they would not have encountered this situation. A criminal is not the one you should be protecting, get your laws straight.

The officials are a disgrace in this situation. Do your job and protect the true victim. They decided to break into a home, they knew they were taking their chances at getting shot. Every criminal knows that. He chose to take his chances and broke into a persons home who had a firearm. It didn’t work out for the criminal, he got shot and died. It was his decision to break in or walk away. He made his decision and paid the consequences of that decision. You can’t blame the fricken homeowner.

Exactly. Judges who let criminals go to commit others crimes should be jailed and maybe sued for endangering the public by letting them go free.

Bad parenting, yes but I blame the laws making it illegal to spank your own child, at home or anywhere else, when they have done something wrong. Since those laws, we have been breeding young criminals because they can literally get away with murder because they are not disciplined growing up like my generation of Baby Boomers have been and I have turned out good. I told him to never do it again. He told me I could not stop him and then hit me. ai told him not to do that again. He did and got punched in the face, He said he was going to tell the police and have me put in jail. I told him I would call them and turn myself in and go to jail but that he had better be so far gone that I could never find him when I got out because dead people don’t talk. He never spoke like that to his mother again and never raised a hand to his father again. punishment cures lack of it destroys.

If someone is brazen enough to break into somebody home they are certainly brazen enough to hurt or kill them if caught. If ANYONE breaks into my house they will be shot. They better be able to run fast and bob or weave cuz I’m going for the headshot.
Make it a law that any Judge who lets a felon go and they commit another crime must serve time as well. Mandatory hard labor for ALL convicted criminals. Do this and watch the crime rate plummet.

Sometimes the parents try to rear good kids;however, they can get involved with thte wrong types and go astray. The parents may not be aware of their friends. Teenagers can be devious and sneak around and commit crimes without the parents knowledge. Yes, it is the parent’s resposiblities to rear good children. However, our laws and judges undermine their attempts at times. We must get tough on crime. Punish all the criminals regardless of age. Don’t let them go with a hand slap. They will just advance to become hardened criminals.
