What most Americans don’t understand is that “cultural appropriation” only applies in America. As a white person who lived abroad for 17 years (almost exclusively in black and brown countries), I can tell you that people in other countries are not offended when a foreigner wears their traditional clothing or hairstyles or shares their jokes. In fact, they are usually delighted by it and see it as appreciation of their culture. This cultural appropriation BS is meant to divide us.
Whenever someone decides they are going to tell me my intention I respond with, “It must be hell living in other people’s heads.”
