As a former artillery officer and fire direction officer, what he is describing is called a “shoot and scoot” operation. The Ukrainians have counters battery fire with radar that will calculate;ate a back azmuth and determine where the show came from, and then a counter battery fires back to kill the opposing artillery. That is why they need to move quickly once they have fired.
