…um…so an epileptic kid who stabbed a young man to death, and supposedly had the right to do so because a head injury allegedly experienced by a push…could have killed him….is playing high school football? That’s a bit strange…eh? Ha! Ha! Ha!

This sad case is “flag” for how low we’ve devolved within our legal & social contracts with each other, with our communities, schools, expectations for parental responsibilities, & our professional contacts of several areas. I was a naive young teacher when I started my career & used to grip the steering wheel on the way to work every AM & pray to God, “Please help me return these children to their families in the evenings the same or better than when they came to me.” I was afraid I’d do something wrong, even if inadvertently, to hurt their progress or self-esteem. Now, this case shows that we not only do NOT teach our children to handle others with the same care they hope to receive, but have raised them within some altered “reality” that allows one child to kill another at a school function when asked to leave an area not socially/competitively allowed/available to them…& when they defied/ did not, reacted with deadly force. My heart aches for what this passage in our schools and our communities represents. When no one person/perpetrator is held responsible–everyone in the community is responsible for the sad outcome and loss. This was not a “one-on” event. This was 17-years in development.

This problem seems to grow worse each year. When are the parents going to say they are tried of seeing their children die. If they don’t soon there will be another Civil War in this Country and the death tole will be staggering.
