To the poster who said he already folded on the $30/hr minimum wage: What difference does it make? Stupid people don’t realize that he wants to raise the tax rate to 52%. What’s 52% of 30? $15.60/hr. The average minimum wage in NYC right now is $16.50/hr for most people with some jobs getting much less. So those enticed by his $30/hr minimum wage are only fooling themselves. They want free buses, free daycare, etc… Where do they think it’s coming from? Taxpayers in the city! SMDH!

When I left the Left Coast for the South, I hesitated to tell people where I had moved from because I was worried they might think I was bringing left coast politics to their state – nothing was further from the truth, I was fleeing left coast politics for a more sane part of the country.

Well put Dr.P.. I was brought up in the 50’s and served this country in uniform. We need to bring back the draft and every one under 30 needs to serve at least 6 years. Fare free buses will become rolling homeless shelters. The homeless will ride all day just to get out of the weather. They’ll be drinking, doing drugs, etc.
I’m much more outraged by the grossly undertaxed wealthy who game our system. How about crooks like George Santos who get pardoned or the guys who beat cops on January 6th who got pardoned? Or Walczak whose Mom bought a pardon for a million (at Mar-a-Lago), withheld $10M of owed taxes and now does not have to pay them back? (How many bus rides is that?)

Sadly I have to agree with the free bus thing, it will probably become rolling homeless housing and they will not be all that safe to go on but there are things we could do to prevent that. If you are really poor though and want to make it in life. . . you walk to work if that is what it takes to get there. This is not a democrat or republican problem it is a people problem. We need to think about real answers to real problems and forget your public affiliations.
If you want to increase peoples wages you lead them to it. It is still about supply and demand, if there are lots of workers out there willing to work for $20/hr then the wage will stay there but if there are none then the wages will rise to coax quality workers to your job.
If you want low cost housing to be a thing then you have to find a way to get people interested in creating it. Most people want to make more money and those investing, always want to make more money so give them tax cuts on building low income housing. You could even require it, for each building built a low income alternative must also be built of the same square footage.
Get creative and quit just blaming everything on everyone else.
What we do not need is to take away anyones freedom, we do not need to make everyone equal in every way because we all do not want the same things. We do need to be equal on the basic liberties we all deserve basic health and wellness; I said basic! Wellness exams, dental cleanings, mental health support, vaccines, birth control. Ohh yes, I said it. Birth control should be part of basic wellness and if you do not believe in birth control just ask yourself, do you really want more people born by people who do not want their children? Do you really want their ideals pushed onto the next generation that they did not even want to create in the first place? You need to have the right to work your way up, to find for yourself how successful you want to be and what success is to you.
Basics. . . . where my rights end and yours begin, I do not need to know everything about you and I am not going to threaten your life because you live differently than I do in your own home.
Really though, no one gets anywhere without being able to have discussions like adults, without name calling, without threats, and openly listen to the other person. Sometimes the ideas really are the same we just will not listen to them.
