Tesla cars have been known to burn on their own. In one example, an idiot was driving a Tesla, it started smoking, he pulled over, he grabbed his laptop and ran as the car burst into flames.
They told us there would be no more car fires because battery powered cars don’t have gas tanks. Well, either they were lying, or they didn’t consider battery fires. Lithium-ion battery fires are like a mini-Chernobyl. Nearly impossible to put out.
Mr. Elon Musk, May God Bless you, Your family, your Team. Thanks so much for your sacrifices and your steadfast approach

If a person doesn’t damage the batteries then they won’t burn
But yes once they are shorted they burn like a blow-torch.
