I remember back in the very early 70’s, as a young Marine Sgt making about $600 a month, grocery shopping with my wife. We had about $100 dollars of real food stamp items in our cart. We didn’t qualify for food stamps. In front of us in line was a very fat but well dressed woman was pushing a cart full of high end foods, mostly snacks and lots of food items we couldn’t afford. She paid with food stamps. While we were unloading our cart into our old 1962 rambler, she was unloading her cart into her nice, pretty blue 70’s Cadillac. The point is food stamp fraud is as old as the program itself and should be very, very closely monitored. Foodstamp fraud should come with extremely severe penalties upon conviction.
