My son took a teaching job at a Univ. in Canada back in 2013, his 900 sq ft. apt was $900 a month plus another $100 for electricity. The grocery stores had me breathless, the prices for US goods were almost 2x what we paid, plus their 16% tax on everything you buy.
Gas was almost $10/ gallon.
They’ve been adding a huge tariff to all of our goods for years.
Our son dated a Canadian here on a green card. Her mother broke her arm in Canada, walked around with it for 2 weeks without a treatment date yet set for it in the Canadian “free health care service.” She ended up flying to her daughter’s home in the US so she could get her arm treated/set in a cast.
Canadian people should wake up..

Before Trump, U.S. and Canada had been the best of friends with much trade and good will between them. Trump STARTED the high tariffs and trade war. Instead of negotiating, he threatens and insults. He’s claim that Canada will become the 51st state was extremely offensive to Canadians. My state and other states have lost milions from the reduction of Canadian tourism and from Trump’s trade wars.
Try again. Canada has had tariffs on U.S. goods long before the 2025 tariffs that Trump put on them. Now they are whining. Also, the notion of becoming the 51st state was welcomed by the citizens of Alberta. It was only “offensive” to the leftists in eastern Canada. That is fine with me. I don’t want them here anyway. You should stop lapping up all of the BS stories told about the left’s favorite boogeyman.
Yes, Trump does these stupid things out of spite instead of looking at how it hurts USA businesses and shoppers. He’s always been clueless about economics, and has a “great” record of SIX bankruptcies. Meanwhile, Canada has just added 2 billion dollars of new trade with Europe and China to help replace the damage Trump’s tariffs have done. The sooner we flush the orange turd, the better off we will be.
Even Alberta has a zero wish of joining the USA if Trump is president. Why would they want an incompetent senile buffoon like Trump for leader. He’s done enough damage to the USA with his stupid wars, tariffs and economic blunders. Canada this year is getting over 4,000 applications per month from Americans who want to move to Canada.
