One thing this video did not pick up is that the African residents, the lady in the video was complaining about as not welcoming, may likely be descendants of the enslavers who captured and sold Afro-American ancestors to the Spanish, Portuguese, and English slave traders.
The slave traders didn’t go into the ‘bush’ to capture slaves…They bought them at the ports from other Africans who did that.
I’m not sure that lady would even survive in the former repatriation states of Liberia (Liberia is known for its vibrant culture, which reflects a mix of indigenous traditions and Americo-Liberian influences.)
or Sierra Leone (UK). She should avoid: Bunce Island.
Liberian people are generally known for their warm and welcoming nature, strong family bonds, and respect for elders. They are also known for their positive attitude, relaxed sense of time, and appreciation for nature, especially the coastline. Hospitality is a key part of Liberian culture, with a strong emphasis on welcoming guests and treating them well.
