Well, look. Think of ol Joe as the leader of a cult. Cult; a system of religious veneration and devotion directed toward a particular figure or object. The word cult is defined as a system or group of people who practice excessive devotion to a figure, object, or belief system, typically following a charismatic leader (with ol Joe you kinda got to ignore the charismatic part…). The term is commonly connected with highly unorthodox religious sects that take part in sinister practices and demonstrations. What’s the dividing line between a cult and a religion? It might be something as simple as this: a religion is a cult that’s gotten successful and gone mainstream. In fact, in academic studies, the word cult is often eschewed in favor of a different term: new religious movements. It can and should also be applied to ANY religion or religious movement that depends on lies for its teachings. Lies such as hell, which does not exist, and you having a soul inside of you that leaves your body when you die. The Bible teaches that you ARE a living soul. Why do ALL 42,000+ so-called christian religions teach such lies? Because they all came out of the cult known as the catholic (meaning universal) church which calls them her daughters. Please remember, all of these ‘cults’ teach that Jesus (the Christ) is Almighty God, yet the name Jesus translates as Jehovah is salvation (Psalms 83:18).
