An Ohio bar owner vowed to no longer show NBA games at his establishment until the NBA expels Lebron James from their league. It seems more and more people are getting tired of the NBA player’s social activism.
Jan Linneman, the owner of Linnie’s Pub in Cincinnati, was angered by Lebron’s statements regarding the police shooting of Ma’Khia Bryant.
“If anyone wants to watch an NBA game, don’t come to Linnie’s Pub,” Linneman wrote on Facebook. “We will not air them until Lebron James has been expelled from the NBA.”
Lebron James heard of this news and responded mockingly in one of his tweets, “Aww Damn! I was headed there to watch our game tonight and have a drink! Welp.”
In this recent tweet post, Linneman also reportedly said: “They just need to play the game. Their opinion doesn’t really matter. They’re using their position to push their opinions, and that’s just not right.
James sent and later on deleted his post about the police officer who killed Ma’Khia Bryant, a 16-year-old black girl in Columbus. His tweet included a photo of the police officer with the statement, ”YOU’RE NEXT #ACCOUNTABILITY.”
“I’m so damn tired of seeing Black people killed by police. I took the Tweet down because it’s being used to create more hate.” James explained. “This isn’t about one officer. It’s about the entire system and they always use our words to create more racism. I am so desperate for more ACCOUNTABILITY.”
At the same time, former President Donald Trump called James out in one of his statements, referring to the NBA player as a “racist.”
“Lebron James should focus on basketball rather than presiding over the destruction of the NBA, which has just recorded the lowest television ratings by far, in the long and distinguished history of the League,” Trump said.
Trump continued, “His racist rants are divisive, nasty, insulting, and demeaning. He may be a great basketball player, but he is doing nothing to bring our country together!”
