On Sunday, White House Coronavirus Task coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx admitted that she broke her own COVID-19 guidelines and visited her family over Thanksgiving — after telling the American people not to visit their loved ones.

On Tuesday, Dr. Birx had an interview where she gave a sob story explaining why she had to visit her family. According to her, her parents had become depressed and “stopped eating.”

Did she really not realize that millions of other Americans feel the same way she and her parents felt but are staying home instead of visiting their loved ones because leaders — including Dr. Birx — aren’t allowing them to?

“My parents stopped eating and drinking because they were so depressed,” Dr. Birx said during the interview.

“My daughter hasn’t left that house in 10 months; my parents have been isolated for 10 months. They’ve become deeply depressed,” Birx said, adding that they needed to “recover from the trauma of the last 10 months.”

“Birx said she took her Thanksgiving jaunt to Delaware because her parents were so down in the dumps, they ‘stopped eating and drinking’ — a justification ripped by people who said it was her coronavirus restrictions that prevented them from seeing their own dying loved ones,” the New York Post reported.

The Daily Wire also noted how, in a press conference on November 19, Birx had told Americans to “increase their vigilance at this moment due to the number of increasing coronavirus cases around the country and the potential for a post-Thanksgiving surge due to small family gatherings.”

Birx also said that she would be retiring because the whole ordeal was too “overwhelming” for her and her family:

“I will have to say, as a civil servant, I will be helpful through a period of time, and then I will have to say, this experience has been a bit overwhelming. It has been tough on my family … I think what was done over the last week to my family.”

It’s challenging to empathize with Birx for the backlash she received from the public after she herself had told Americans not to visit family, which she did.
