“I will not be voting for Nancy Pelosi,” Rep. Slotkin told the news outlet.

Slotkin has no idea yet if someone will run against Pelosi and would challenge the incumbent House Speaker. She claims to have the “conversation directly” with Pelosi but believes new leadership is needed.

“I would love to see more Midwesterners because if you look across the leadership, I respect these people, but it’s New York and California,” Slotkin added.

“Midwestern Democrat” constitutes a self-styled rational Michigan’s 8th District that was pro-Trump in the 2016 and 2020 elections.

National Review reported Slotkin was reelected to Congress by less than four percentage points of votes in this year’s national election. President Trump ran by less than one point in the 8th district.

In the interview, the congresswoman also slammed the Democrats for a clear message to its supporters and fellow Americans.

“The brand of the national Democratic Party is mushy. People don’t know what we stand for, what we’re about,” said Slotkin.

Moderate and progressive factions of the Democrat party have criticized one another since they lost seats in the White House. Moderated claimed that “defund the police” slogans and the welcoming of democratic socialism have wounded the party. On the other hand, the progressives claim that the centrists are “out of touch with their own base.”

As a former CIA analyst, Slotkin became prominent in September 2019 when she joined a group of Dems pushing an impeachment inquiry against President Trump.
