Various states have been administering the newly released COVID-19 vaccine to at-risk individuals such as the frontline workers and the elderly.

However, a healthcare facility in New York City is under fire for doing so.

On Friday, Democratic New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio said that due to Governor Andrew Cuomo’s consent, the state fined a New Rochelle hospital for vaccinating the first responders.

The mayor told radio host Brian Lehrer in a radio interview that a hospital in New Rochelle City was fined after the officials began administering the vaccine to the first responders. New Rochelle was once the pandemic epicenter in the state.

According to the Daily Caller, they also confiscated the remaining vaccines.

The mayor and the governor are not on the same page over the COVID-19 vaccine distribution after the massive requests to start vaccinating the elderly – aged 75 and above – were denied by Cuomo.

About 270,000 unused doses could be given to the elderly in New York City alone. The Times reported, the number is 66 percent of the city’s doses.

We hope Cuomo knows what he’s doing as the vial is only good for six hours. Because of his rigorous guidelines, several doses have been thrown out, and of course, the taxpayers’ money has been wasted. The vaccine cannot be salvaged once thawed.

According to the NY Daily News, Governor Cuomo said in a Thursday press conference that 430,000 people have already been given the first two inoculations out of the 900,000 doses that the state has received.
